Carondelet Catholic School is dedicated to educating the whole child by providing a strong academic program, teaching Christian values, and preparing students for a life of learning and service. While we may be learning off site, we still hold strong to our Mission. Please review the off-site learning guide to better understand how we will make sure every child succeeds!
GRADE-LEVEL CALENDARS
Teachers have created week long online learning calendars to give you an overview of the week. View grade-level calendars here.
ATTENDANCE:
Carondelet Catholic School and the Minnesota Department of Education requires daily attendance for all schools. During our off-site learning, attendance will be collected by teachers daily. If your child is sick and not planning to connect with the teacher, please email your homeroom teacher and/or call one of the campus offices (612-920-9075 Lower; 612-927-8673 Upper).
Student attendance may include one or more of the following:
Email exchange/online discussion/video chat/phone call with teacher.
Activity in classes (pages accessed, discussion participation, formative assessments, and completed homework).
Parents/Students sending in pictures or videos to teachers showing students participating in learning experiences via Seesaw, Google Classroom, or email.
ABSENT: Students who do not participate in planned activities are considered absent and should be recorded as absent just as if they were not present for an on-site class. If your child doesn’t have access to one of the means of communication listed above, please work with your child’s teacher/school to determine attendance options.
COMMUNICATION
Each Sunday, teachers will provide a week-long online learning calendar to give you an overview of the week. PreK-Grade 4 teachers will email parents no later than 8:00pm the evening before each of our online learning days to share more detailed daily assignments and activities (links, videos, PDF’s, etc.). Students in Grade 5-8 should check Google Classroom by 9:00am each morning, with which they are all familiar.
HOMEWORK
Homework will be due each day by 3:00pm unless otherwise specified by teachers. It is important for students to keep up with homework and contact teachers with any questions or concerns. Homework submissions may count towards attendance.
TECHNOLOGY PROCEDURES & SAFETY
As a reminder, all families have signed online technology usage agreements in Sycamore. In addition, our Middle School students have signed and agreed to iPad Policies. All of these policies are put into place to first, ensure the safety of our students, and second, protect equipment and software.
While online it is important that students practice online safety.Use caution in all emails, postings and videos that they meet safety standards (monitor your child’s communication and materials)
Practice online safety at all times
Do not post full names to the larger community
When attending a “Live Classroom” students should come fully dressed and follow our school Parent/Student Handbook for proper behavior and treatment of others. Uniforms not required.
Review and follow the iPad Policy for all school devices
Log off and shut down after using online school resources to ensure that links are closed
Students have access to technical support via email.

CHEATING/FORGING/PLAGIARISM (*modified from Parent/Student Handbook)
Each student is expected to do his/her best in each class. Cheating is not acceptable and a student who has cheated will not receive credit for that particular assignment or test. Parents/guardians will be notified of any cheating offense. Plagiarism and forgery are against the law and are considered cheating.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Teachers will maintain their Sycamore gradebook to reflect student learning completed through off-site learning. Teachers may alter assignments or assessments occurring in the off-site environment. Gov. Tim Walz announced that there will be no state testing for students in public schools in Minnesota, therefore, we have decided NOT to conduct spring NWEA Map tests.
SUCCESS AT HOME
Carondelet Catholic School is blessed to partner with you in the education of your children. Through this extraordinary time of off-site learning due to COVID-19, we want to give you as much support as you need to ensure success.
Learning Space: Create a learning area in your home for your children. From supplies to technology, this space becomes the best place for your child to learn, do their homework, connect with a teacher, and be successful in their learning.
Routines: We encourage you to set up a learning routine that includes time for meals, review of daily, live classes, and homework.
Check-In: Visit with your children about their daily goals, homework, any special links and live classes.
Create Daily Goals: Does your routine need to be adjusted based on any special needs for the day with your child? Develop goals for each day.
Support: Let the teacher know if you or your child is struggling with any technology, resources, or homework.
Social Interaction: With more students online with classes, monitor student communication and discuss your expectations with your child.
Breaks: Be sure your day has plenty of breaks, time for outdoor play, and quiet time.
Support Emotional Needs: At this time both adults and children are feeling a lot of anxiety over the inability to control our situation and health.

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

God Bless you all as we continue our Off-Site Learning Journey together. Please know that you are always and forever in our hearts and prayers.
