Elective Classes

Middle School Electives

Enrichment and exploration are an important part of Carondelet's middle school curriculum. As recommended by the National Middle School Association, Carondelet's 6th, 7th and 8th graders are offered a variety of enrichment electives that provide an exploratory experience for students in various disciplines. Students enroll in two electives per 6-9 week session.

Sample Elective Classes Include:

Model UN (Learn how the international community works together to take care of the world and its people).

Virtual Reality Geography (Travel the world to learn about different history, other countries and cultures and outerspace).

Chemistry of Cookies (Bake and taste cookie and see what happens when you change the chemistry of the ingredients.)

Top Chef for Middle School Students (Learn to cook Top Chef Style)

Pop Art (Do you love construction? How about popular foods or Objects? Learn to build your larger than life Pop Art sculpture.)

IPAD Photography (Keen on Photography? Learn all the filters and methods for photographing your world through your own ipad lens.)

Outdoor Adventures (Camping? Hiking? Backpacking? Hammocking? Learn to survive in the wide world of Nature.)

Robotics Lab (Do you love engineering? Learn to design, build and code robots to achieve specific tasks)

Tell your Story! (Do you love to tell stories, write novels? Creative writing is a great place to start crafting the next great graphic novel or memoir.)

Knowledge Bowl (Do you want to master Jeopardy? Be the next trivia winner? Practice your tapping in skills here.)

Got the Rhythm? (Learn the art of drumming using all sorts of materials!)

Sports Samplers (Spend some time with sports you don't normally play.)

Moving Mindfully and Meditation (Need a little relaxation in your life? Learn to relieve stress and anxiety through movement and meditation.)

Zoo Life STEM Challenge (Want to learn more about animals and zoo life? Participate in the ZOOMS contest)

Piano for Beginners (Always wanted to learn piano? Experiment with beats and notes on the piano)

STEM Challenge: Build your own amusement park (take the challenge and use materials to build an amusement park attraction.)

Small Business Ownership (Design, start and run a small business at school)

The World is your Oyster: Project based Learning (Identify a real problem, research and design a solution.)

It's a Small World: (Learn about how other people practice their faith and how that affects our world).

Speech and Debate: (Have you ever wanted to win an arguement with your parents? or your siblings? This class will teach you how to never lose again.)
