Volunteer Opportunities
Carondelet Catholic School has a dedicated parent volunteer community that is critical to running many vital school programs. From reading in the classroom and chaperoning class trips, to helping with key fundraisers and staffing special events, we ask every family to contribute in some way.
Below are some of the ways parents become involved at Carondelet:
- Pizza/Subway Volunteers (click to view the volunteer schedule)
- Lunchroom and Playground Monitoring
- Library or Computer Aide
- Health Aide
- Art Adventure Program (education collaborative with Minneapolis Institute of Arts)
- Junior Achievement
- Inventors Fair & History Day Judges
- Coaching Team Sports
- Assisting with Key Fundraisers
- Home and School Association
- Board of Directors
All Carondelet volunteers are required to attend the archdiocese training session, VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children for Adults.
For more information about volunteering at Carondelet contact Susan Hellstrom, volunteer coordinator at (612) 824-7245 or email.
VIRTUS Training
All Carondelet volunteers are required to attend the archdiocese training session, VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children for Adults.
The three hour VIRTUS session consists of a presentation of printed materials, videos, and group discussion. Among other things, VIRTUS attendees will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms that indicate a child is being abused or exploited in some way, environmental factors to be aware of in the physical space of the parish or school, how abusers operate, and things parents can do to help educate their children about how to respond to inappropriate behavior toward them. To pre-register, please visit www.virtus.org. It is very important that you pre-register to make sure your attendance is counted. It also lets the archdiocese contact you if your session is canceled. There are many sessions scheduled throughout the archdiocese and you may register for any session outside your school that is not listed as only for employees or volunteers of the hosting institution.
If you have already attended a VIRTUS session, but did not pre-register nor post-register for that session at www.virtus.org, please do so to make sure you receive credit for attending. If you would like more information about VIRTUS, please contact Julie Stoeger at (612) 927-8673 x12 or visit www.archspm.org and click on “Protection of Children and Youth Initiative”. |
